Denise Hinds

Denise Hinds is the Associate Executive Director of Foster Care, Juvenile Justice and Supportive Housing at Good Shepherd Services in NYC, she oversees the agency’s programs treatment and regular Foster Care programs for 295 children, 6 child welfare and juvenile justice residential programs, a community-based program for court-involved youth and two supportive housing programs for young adults. During her 35 years at Good Shepherd Services, Ms. Hinds has been instrumental in developing a variety of innovative youth development-driven programs. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Maryville College in Tennessee and a Masters in Social Work from the Hunter College School of Social Work and completed the Executive Education Program at Columbia University Graduate School of Business. She is certified as a New York State Licensed Master Social Worker, as well as a Clinical Field Instructor. She has also served as a Faculty Advisor for the Hunter College School of Social Work.

Denise presently lives in South Orange New Jersey with her teenage daughter Maura. She continues to dedicate a great deal of her free time in support of LGBTQ issues and presently is the board chair of the Newark LGBTQ Community Center and serves as a board member of Family Equality as well as serving as the internal moderator for Good Shepherd Services LGBTQ internal workgroup.
